A ‘MISS Surrey’ hopeful and Army physiotherapist from Tongham has completed a mile-and-a-half swim in full military combats for Help4Heroes.

Agatha Lawton, who was previously crowned Miss Hull City 2017 during her post-graduate studies, undertook the challenge to swim 12 military fitness tests on the bounce at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, joined in the water by six Army recruits and three members of staff who took it in turns to swim 100m with her each.

The physio, who is currently posted to ATR Pirbright rehabilitating injured recruits, was interviewed poolside by BFBS Forces radio and has raised almost £500 for Help for Hero’s and Beauty With A Purpose - the official charitable foundation for Miss World.

Agatha said afterwards: “While I may not get anywhere the whole experience has been an amazing one and hopefully, if I’m lucky enough to represent Surrey or Hampshire for the year 2018 it will be my main mission to carry out further inspiring works in my community. “Thank you so much for everyone who has supported me.”
