VOLUNTEERS from across East Hampshire will be recognised and rewarded for their hard work and dedication when the volunteer awards return in November.

The East Hampshire Volunteer Awards, organised by Community First and East Hampshire District Council, will not only recognise the time and energy given by volunteers to organisations across the district, but will also be an opportunity to celebrate the enthusiasm of local volunteers who make such a difference to the lives of many residents.

This year’s awards ceremony will take place at the Old Thorns Manor Hotel, at Griggs Green, near Liphook, on Thursday, November 8, at 5pm.

Any group or organisation operating in the voluntary and community sector across the district can make nominations.

The categories are:–

•Young Volunteer of the Year

•Small Team of the Year

•Large Team of the Year

•Unsung Hero

•Special Commendation

•Lifetime Achievement

The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Tuesday, October 2.

EHDC deputy leader Julie Butler, who is also portfolio holder for welfare and communities, said: “It’s really important that we give back to the people who do so much for our district.

“These people do what they do out of the kindness of their hearts, not for reward or recognition – but these awards give us a fantastic opportunity to let them know how much we appreciate their hard work and celebrate their achievements.

“Volunteers really do make East Hampshire a better place to live, and for that they deserve our appreciation.”

Community First’s volunteer service manager Janet Dugga said: “We are really excited to announce this year’s East Hampshire Volunteer Awards which are a great opportunity for any community group/not-for-profit organisation to nominate their volunteers.

“The awards celebration last year was a very special occasion and we look forward to receiving nominations.”
