A FUN-filled evening of music food and entertainment raised a magnificent £935 for charity.
’Dancing on a Saturday Night’ was held in aid of the Bordon-based charity TLC befriending and therapies at The Hardman Hall in Lynchmere, near Haslemere.
The charity befriends and supports people in the community with life-limiting conditions and includes volunteers from Haslemere, Hindhead, Grayshott, Headley and Liphook, all helping people in their local community.
Organised by TLC therapies co-ordinator Debra Covington Hole, the packed hall featured dancing to hits from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 21st Century music courtesy of the Hindhead-based Tone Zone Disco.
Food was served by Hammer’s Ina Pegley and colleagues from Tanamerah Catering.
Topping the bill after a 10-year absence from the stage in the UK were The YMCA Village Boize, complete with befitting outfits, false moustaches and newly updated dance routines, with many of the band bearing striking resemblances to well-known members of the community.
Event promoter Mikky Malibu said: “It looked like everybody had a great time and a good amount was raised for this good cause, so I’m thinking about bringing the Boize back again to Haslemere in 2017."
TLC provides volunteers to give up to three hours of their time each week to support people with terminal conditions who are being cared for by a family member or those isolated and unable to leave their homes. TLC helps people across Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex.
