THIS year’s Millfest was another triumph for The Rising Sun pub in Milland.
Held under clear skies and sandwiched between two heavy rainy days, the family friendly event attracted hundreds of people who turned up to see five bands hosted and headlined by Alex and Phil – with their band Brando – while sampling 18 different real ales and many other drinks served from five bars across the site.
There was an equally large food offering available from a marquee including a hog roast and the Holy Cow gourmet burger van owned by Ben and Pete as well as Dylan’s ice cream van made their yearly appearances.
A recent attraction to the pub garden is a copper Moon Swing, created and installed by Milland artist Steve Myburgh, which went down a storm with all children.
Landlord Ben Burston told The Herald: “An interesting difference from recent years was that fewer families came along during the earlier part of the day, presumably due to the big summer holiday exodus.
“In an attempt to regain and retain the family vibe next year we will be creating a special family area with a bouncy castle, face painting and other entertainment for children.
“I am pleased to say that overall the organisation of the event went very well, public safety was ensured through on site security, first aid and carefully managed risk and all of our 32 staff did a fantastic job.”
The date for the next Millfest has already been fixed for Saturday, July 23, in 2016.
