INDUSTRIAL action will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, July, 31, as South Western Railway and the RMT union remain in a stalemate over talks.
South Western Railway has apologised to their customers ahead of the second of eight days of proposed walkouts this summer, stating they “will do everything we can to make journeys as smooth as possible during tomorrow’s strike”, thanking customers for their “ongoing patience”.
Two thirds of normal services will continue, SWR tickets will be accepted on other rail and bus networks and additional bus replacement services will also be running.
RMT have commented on the rail strikes too, with General Secretary Mick Cash commenting: “It is RMT’s firm belief that a deal can be done…but that requires a responsible and serious attitude from SWR towards this dispute which is all about safe and accessible railways for all”.
Further strikes are planned this Saturday, August 4, as well as on Saturdays August 11 and 18, plus a 48 hour strike from Friday, August 31 to Saturday, September 1 which will be a 48 hour strike.
South Western Railway remind passengers to check their website https://www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey/rmt-industrial-action and national rail www.nationalrail.co.uk for further details on their journey and the upcoming strikes.
