LIPHOOK Carnival and bonfire organisers will welcome two special guests to this year's festivities.

Hugh Bonneville, star of Downton Abbey, will crown the carnival queen and help present cups to the float winners, while Olivia Breen, Liphook's bronze medallist in this year's Paralympic Games and a former attendant to a previous carnival queen herself, will also participate and help with formalities on the night.

Carnival committee chairman Karen Feeney said: "This is the first time in many years that we have been joined by a celebrity on carnival night so we are very excited and hope that lots of people will come along and watch the event this year."
