FOLLOWING the success and popularity of last year’s village sports day, Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council has confirmed that it will be holding a second event this summer.
Bohunt School will be supporting the event with total access to their facilities and equipment on the day and Tony Rudgard, the parish councils sports representative, is hoping that even more clubs will be taking part.
Some surplus funds have already been ring fenced by the parish council for the event, which will take place on Saturday, July 2.
The Liphook Sports Day seeks to emphasise facilities and sports as well as fitness activities available in the parish and to encourage people of all ages to come along, use these facilities, meet established members and play a few games with a view to joining a club.
A total of 12 sports clubs took part in last year’s inaugural event, all of them offering their time and facilities, taster sessions, tuition and tips for free with a view to attract new members.
Many, like Liphook Tennis Club, were delighted to sign up new members on the day, and many other participants expressed an interest to join clubs at a later date.
Others – including a tchoukball club – would very much like to participate in this year’s event and cricket, archery and athletics clubs have already voiced their interests.
