BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council has a vacancy for a parish councillor, due to the resignation of Philip Darling on September 21.

Mr Darling, who sat on the planning committee, was one of three co-opted councillors after the May elections. He cited heavy work commitments running his own executive recruitment search business as the reason for his resignation.

Statutory notices were posted on September 22, notifying the community and the district council’s Returning Officer of the vacancy. 

A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if, within 14 days of the notice, 10 electors from the parish give notice in writing claiming an election to the returning officer at East Hampshire District Council.

If no such notice is given, the parish council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

The 14-day period excludes a Saturday or Sunday. The returning officer’s address is: EHDC, Penns Place, Petersfield, GU31 4EX.
