Ropley Church of England Primary School Council chose the Wessex Rotary Shoebox Appeal as its charity to support this year.

The school councillors led a worship to introduce the appeal to the children.

They also had a stand at the school’s recent open afternoon.

On November 1 they led worship again to update the school on the success of the appeal.

They then handed over a total of 44 boxes of gifts.

A spokesperson for the school in Church Street, Ropley, described this as “absolutely amazing”.

They added: “This is the first step towards the Global Neighbours Award, which we hope to achieve this year.

“All of the boxes will make their way to displaced and disadvantaged children in eastern Europe who will not enjoy a happy Christmas this year.

“A very big thank you to our local community and our Ropley school family for their generosity in spreading a little happiness.”
