RECYCLING proceeds from four Revive re-use shops have helped give a new lease of life to The Hunter Centre in Haslemere.
The Revive shops are operated by SUEZ recycling and Recovery UK on behalf of Surrey County Council at four community recycling centres.
They reclaim unwanted but usable items taken to the tips and sell them on site.
The charity scheme sees a portion of money raised from the four Revive shops across the county donated to local charities chosen by customers.
One of the shops is based at Witley Community Recycling Centre and county councillor Peter Martin was pleased to present Hunter Cenre operations manager Elaine Clements with more than £1,700 raised after the centre was nominated by customers.
The Hunter Centre is a charity established to support those living with dementia in Haslemere, and its day care facility at Marjorie Gray Hall operates from 10am until 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It provides help for sufferers from East Hampshire too.
Mike Goodman, Surrey County Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “The Revive re-use charity scheme is a great way for local good causes to benefit from the things other people throw away.
“The busier the Revive re-use shops are, the more money is donated to charity. ”
