THE South Downs went on safari to Haslemere’s Lion Green as part of National Parks Week.
South Downs rangers went out on tour from Brighton to Bordon to teach youngsters how to make a bug hotel, test their animal knowledge on a giant jigsaw and make wildlife sashes, as well as answering questions and sharing tips on how to make the most of the park over the school holidays.
Dan Oakley, lead ranger for the South Downs National Park, said: “We had a great turn out.
“More than 40 turned up and it was fantastic to speak to local kids and their families about why the national park is so special, give them lots of ideas for adventures over the summer, and send them home with their own newly-made bee houses to bring a little bit of the South Downs into their own outdoor spaces.”
