THIS year’s Carnival Walk is due to take place on Sunday, September 10, at The Deers Hut in Griggs Green.

Organised by Rob and Alison Harris Dibben, the walk offers different routes each year to keep it interesting and is a great way to explore the local countryside as well as raising money.

Alison told The Herald: “If you talk the talk in support of the Liphook Carnival then why not walk the walk and help us raise much needed funds to cover the Carnival’s running costs.

“This year participants have three circular routes to choose from, approximately 3.5, nine and 11.5 miles, which all start and finish at The Deer’s Hut pub, at Griggs Green.

“Last year we had just over 40 walkers attend the event and we made approximately £430.

“It would be great to see an even better turn-out this year.”

There is also an added incentive to get sponsorship, with the organisers offering a prize for the highest sponsorship obtained, which will be announced on the day. The Deer’s Hut will be catering with bacon rolls, tea and coffee before the walk – in exchange for a donation, and all proceeds go to fund the Carnival.

Stout walking boots are recommended to avoid injuries and dogs are welcome. Registration opens at 9am in the garden pavilion. Entry is £6 per adult and £3 for under 16s.

It is free for anyone sponsored for an amount over the entry fee and for under six year olds.
