CHILDREN at Brookham School in Liphook held their very own Burns’ Day ceilidh in the school theatre, after learning Scottish dancing during PE lessons.

Challenges arose as the children quickly leared to count out the different beats, learned the difference between a reel and a waltz, and experienced the complications of dancing a figure of eight.

The boys learned how to ask the girls to dance, and the girls in turn learned how to accept gracefully.

Patience and understanding between couples and reeling groups grew and the lessons were thoroughly enjoyed. By the day of the ceilidh children were eager to show off their new moves to all the parents and grandparents who had come to watch.
