LIPHOOK followed the House of Windsor’s example and celebrated its own Royal occasion, by introducing a Carnival Prince to the grand procession.

For the first time in the event’s history, 10-year-old Prince Camaron Wilson joined the Royal Float, dressed in a purple cape, wearing a gold leaf crown.

His cape was tailor-made by seamstress Dee Young, who was delighted to contribute to the special occasion.

Camaron has been a Carnival regular for many years, winning a number of first prizes in the children’s fancy dress competitions with his two younger brothers Brendan, Zak and sister Jessica.

Carnival royalty runs in the Wilson family, with his aunt Rebecca becoming Liphook’s Carnival Princess when she was 15 years old and Queen the following year.

Camaron was selected unanimously by the committee members to become the first Prince at this year’s Carnival fun day in July.

He will also become the first-ever Carnival King in three years’ time.

He was joined by 2018 Carnival Queen Megan Shepherd, who was the Carnival Princess in 2015, as well as this year’s Princess, Cassandra Harris-Dibben and her attendants, Amy Wright and Rose Salmon.

Guest of honour Damian Hinds performed the traditional coronation ceremony in The Square.
