POPULAR?children’s TV?and book character Thomas the Tank Engine will be steaming along to the Mid Hants Railway’s Watercress Line this summer.

The cheerful blue engine will appear on the restored railway line from August 5-13 as part of the annual Day Out With Thomas initiative.

Children will be able to take a ride with Thomas and Friends and experience lots of fun-filled activities, as well as meet The Fat Controller.

A ‘Day Out With Thomas’ will include crafts, interactive entertainment and fun and games – providing the perfect opportunity to highlight the friendship theme.

Alongside unlimited rides aboard Thomas and other full-sized steam trains, visitors will have the chance to enjoy rides on a miniature railway, a bouncy slide, tea cup ride and story corner. Entertainer Rusty will be returning following his popular debut at Easter to dazzle the crowds with fun and magic tricks while attempting to keep The Fat Controller happy.

The Watercress Line runs from Alresford to Alton, taking in stations at Four Marks & Medstead and Ropley.

Woodies Mountford, the Mid Hants Railway’s marketing manager, said: “This summer’s Day Out With Thomas promises to be a special occasion for children with many events and activities highlighting the importance of friendships – something that is so important when you are growing up.”
