SURREY Union’s premier Point to Point at Peper Harow, near Godalming, gets under way next weekend.

Racing has a long tradition at Peper Harow. The first point to point was held in the 1950s by kind permission of the Baker family. Since then, it has become a popular annual event, staged against the backdrop of Pugin’s Victorian Gothic ruined chapel.

The course runs in a right handed direction and the horses have to complete two and a half circuits. In addition to the racing there are great opportunities to browse the trade stands, enjoy a picnic and visit the fun fair.

The event on Saturday, April 30, is supported by local businesses, including the award winning Hogs Back Brewery, which will be hosting the bar and beer garden next to the trade stands.

Access is via the B3001 Milford to Elstead road. The first of the six races starts at 2pm but gates open at 11am for families to set up picnics, go shopping and explore the funfair. Entry to the car park is £12 per adult and children under 16 get in free.
