LIPHOOK Day Centre clients have been busy making more than 300 poppies in time for this year’s appeal, which also marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

Shoplifter banned from wearing wigs after series of thefts across East HampshireUnder the guidance of manager Penny Leigh and Chris Sibley, the elderly folk have been sewing, knitting and making the poppies, which will decorate the Age Concern bus on Saturday, when the Day Centre takes part in the Carnival procession, dressed in period costume.
Members of the Liphook branch of the Royal British Legion together with Damian Hinds MP, the Secretary of State for Educaiton, will officially be launching this year’s Poppy Appeal in the foyer of Sainsbury’s Store, tomorrow (Saturday) at 9am.
There will be a total of 140 collection boxes distributed beforehand to shops, schools and offices in the parish, and house to house collections take place during the two-week appeal.
A special Remembrance Day Service will be held at St Mary’s Church, Bramshott on Sunday, November 11, starting at 10.30am, where wreaths will be laid in honour of all those who have fallen.
