KEY dates for electors in East Hampshire have been amended in the run up to the December 12 general election.

East Hampshire District Council is already busy confirming polling station venues, preparing the electoral register, booking printing companies, and appointing polling and count staff. Party agents and candidates will also be invited to a briefing.

Subject to the House of Lords passing the election bill, a notice of election is expected to be published by East Hampshire at 4pm on November 11.

Candidates must then submit their nomination papers before 4pm on November 14, with polling stations to open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday, December 12.

Other key dates for electors:

*Last date to register for the election: midnight on November 26. Residents not registered can do so online at gov.uk/registertovote

*Last date for receipt of postal vote applications: 5pm on Tuesday, November 26.

*Last date for receipt of proxy vote applications: 5pm on Wednesday, December 4.
