GREEN Construct recently held an open afternoon to allow residents to see and comment on the company’s initial proposals for nine houses on 1.5 acres of land either side of the River Wey, fronting onto London Road, Liphook.
The company hopes to give the majority of the land to the River Wey Trust, enabling them to substantially extend the area of land they care for, to improve the environment and open it up for the benefit of local people.
Roger Hayes (pictured right with a map of the site), a director of Green Construct, told The Herald: “We were delighted to see over 40 residents and close neighbours to our site, who came along to better understand our initial thoughts and chat through their own ideas.
“It also gave the River Wey Trust, who were there to support us, a chance to explain what they would like to do with the large area of land that we hope to give them.
“The trust conducted three guided tours of the site during the course of the afternoon and evening, which several people went on, including two of the ward councillors.
“We were very pleased with the overall positive reaction we received. Obviously some people had questions as they would with any development, but it was really helpful to us to be able to listen to local thoughts and explain our ambitions.”
The area Green Construct want to gift to the River Wey Trust is around 7.25 acres in size, and runs north from London Road along both banks of the River Wey.
On the western bank it joins up with Allee’s Meadow in the north, an area already owned and managed by the River Wey Trust.
To the east the land is bounded by the public footpath that runs from London Road to St Mary’s Church in Bramshott.
