BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council’s planning committee considered proposals by Taylor Wimpey for road names for the first phase of the development of 155 dwellings at Lowsley Farm, off Longmooor Road.

The suggestions were Broad Leaf Avenue, Broad Leaf Street or Broad Leaf Road, as well as Acorn, Oaktree, Kiln, Stock, Brickwork, Clay, Rustic, Vintage, Clayburn and Crofton.

Councillors suggested Lowsley Farm Drive for the main road into the development, as well as Terracotta Avenue or Terracotta Road – but rejected Rustic and Vintage.

Lowsley Farm was the site of Griggs Green Brickworks in the early 1900s, which went out of production at the end of the First World War. Now only two gate posts to the former entrance remain standing.

The Griggs Green bricks, which have a crest imbedded, can still be found on buildings around the village.
