LIPHOOK Junior School staged its annual Christmas production 'Peter Pan(ish)' this week.
The play was adapted from the JM Barrie classic by Denis Foster, who teaches at Bohunt School and has written the Christmas plays for Liphook Junior School for several years, adding some modern twists and references to teachers and school events.
School leader Peter Castle, who produced and directed the play, told The Herald: "We had a cast of 89 children from Year 6 performing, singing and dancing, involved in our big production, with a guest appearance from headteacher Clare Williams as Captain Hook's mother, complete with pirate outfit and eye patch. There is a twist at the end when Peter Pan finds out that Captain Hook is actually his father and they have a Starwars style fight.
"We pre-record all the classic songs sung throughout the play, like Crocodile Rock by Elton John and Bad by Michael Jackson at the Bohunt recording studio in advance, which provides the background, but all children sing them live during the performance.
"It took 10 weeks to prepare and rehearse for the play, which is two hours long with an interval of 20 minutes. Even though it is only performed by year 6 pupils, the whole school is involved in its preparations and painting of scenery."
