MILLAND Parish Council has announced it is one of the first parishes in the area to put emergency plans into place to deal with severe winter weather.

During last winter's heavy snowfall the village was effectively cut off, suffering lengthy power cuts and fallen trees across major roads.

And Hollycombe School had to remain closed for two extra weeks after the Christmas holidays.
