BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council’s planning committee objected to an application for nine houses and seven flats for the over-55s on land behind Haslemere and London Road, in the village.

The proposal also included an office and communal gym following the demolition of an unlisted barn.

Councillors felt the barn could be incorporated into the plan and objected to the height of the proposed flats as well as the materials, which they felt should reflect existing styles of listed properties along the Haslemere Road.

The removal of all trees on the site proved to be a further issue and was deemed to require further investigation as some of the older trees are visible from the Haslemere Road – and according to councillors, provide high amenity value.
