The most significant resignation is that of Eve Hope, who was chairman of the council at the time of the clerk's suspension, on full pay, last September.
With a background in human resources, she was in charge of the initial investigation into Mr Groves' conduct. But she alleges she quit when some councillors tried to interfere – saying they would table a vote of no confidence in her unless she complied.
