MEMBERS of Liphook In Bloom, as well as friends and sponsors, gathered for a social evening at the Millennium Centre celebrating another year of keeping Liphook blooming.

It was the first time in almost 20 years that the summer competition was put on hold and no prizes were handed out to parishioners.

The evening presented an opportunity to meet new and old team members, browse through photo albums, find out about the bloomers’ history and take part in a quiz, followed by a video produced by Jan Roles, Russ Ellis and Paul Johnson, showing this year’s floral highlights.

Entertainment was provided by Luke Evans and his cousin Jake, two talented young men who wowed the audience with their juggling and unicycle skills.

Chairman Irene Ellis thanked volunteers for their support, stressing that she hopes this will continue after seven long- standing team members stand down at the end of the year, making room for 14 new volunteers to take over.

The evening finished with the presentation of the chairman’s award, which went to vice chairman Keith Tipping.

He is stepping down from his role in charge of the watering team.

His enthusiasm and dedication will be sorely missed.

Next year marks the 20th anniversary of Liphook in Bloom and plans are already being made for some special floral displays.
