NEW Haslemere mayor David Round joined former incumbent Malcolm Carter to cut the ribbon at the official launch of the new Simply Fresh store in Beacon Hill, which is also hosting the relocated village post office.

Guests were welcomed by the shop owner Ram Siva and his wife and two daughters, and treated to drinks and refreshments.

There was also a wine-tasting session, giving visitors the chance to sample a selection from around the world which is now on offer.

“The village as a whole is very grateful to Ram for taking on the very important role of postmaster after our last one retired,” said Beacon Hill resident Simon Lindsey-Clark.
