INTERIOR designer Nadine Gilbert held a charity sale which raised £628 for the Liphook Day Centre.
Nadine, owner of Liphook Carpet Warehouse, off Station Road, and her husband, Nic, have lived in the village all their lives and are no strangers to fundraising.
She said: “We have both entered the LiDBA bike ride to raise money for the day centre and decided to hold this sale of interior items because we needed to clear some space in our warehouse.
“I believe the day centre is doing a wonderful job for the elderly in the parish which inspired me hold the sale to raise money for them. The response has been great, lots of people have come along and bought decorative items at bargain prices that would normally have cost them a lot more.”
The money will go toward buying another four high seat and comfort chairs, which have to be specially made, since the day centre now has a waiting list of elderly clients three days per week.
Volunteer Anne Hall added: “We are delighted with the amount raised through Nadine’s sale as we did not expect it to be quite as much. The cost of these four special chairs is almost covered by the donation, which is greatly appreciated.
“It means we can accommodate more of the elderly in the parish at the centre each week, where they get plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes and a freshly cooked hot meal, as well as help with shopping, doctors visits and contact with others.”
