A STORM that has submerged much of east coast of the US under two feet of snow is expected to reach Surrey and Hampshire later this week.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning with heavy rain expected from 3am on Wednesday and some localised flooding possible.

Up to 40mm of rain may fall in some spots and strong winds are also forecasted. The band of rain is expected to clear away by early evening.

The public is asked to be aware of the potential for disruption to travel from flooding and some difficult driving conditions.
