THE memorial service in London for Welsh actor Richard “Dickie” Davies, who died recently, has been moved back until next year.
One of the stars in the classic Zulu film, who lived with his wife Jill in Conford for 15 years, will now be remembered at a Memorial Service at St Paul’s, Covent Garden – known as at the actor’s church – on March 18 at 2.30pm.
The service was due to be held originally on December 18.
Dickie, who passed away on October 8, was best known for his iconic performance as Private 593 Jones alongside Michael Caine and Stanley Baker in the 1964 film about the famous South African battle.
He was also well-known as Mr Price, the sarcastic, long-suffering and world-weary science teacher in the 1970s ITV series Please Sir!
