THE latest planning application for the derelict OSU site triggered a lengthy debate among councillors at Bramshott and Liphook's parish council meeting this week.

And the controversial scheme was rejected in its present form.

Taylor Wimpey's proposal is for 43 residential and 24 affordable dwellings, no larger than three storeys. The proposed care home for people with learning and physical disabilities comprises 17, one-bedroom en suite apartments.

Developers have included 156 parking spaces across the entire site with 136 allocated for residential, seven for visitors and 13 for the care home, as well as 20 parking spaces for use by railway users.

Philip Jordan pointed out the new application has a total of 202 bedrooms but does not include any business units, as previously proposed by Barratts, who had included 171 bedrooms in the scheme put forward last year.
