LIPHOOK Amateur Productions (LAMPS), now in its 20th year, performed Grease, The Early Years at the Millennium Centre, a musical set back in the 1950s in Rydell High School.

The story of Danny, Rizzo and friends' first day at Rydell High enabled the youngest members of LAMPS to play a large part in the production, performing numbers such as Calendar Girl and Roses are Red.

The show was packed with humour and music as well as the "will they won't they" romance of shy teacher Ronnie Lonely and voluptuous English teacher Mary Lou.

In the second half, set four years later the teenagers took over the lead roles of Danny, Rizzo and Co. The newly-formed Pink Ladies gave renditions of the Everly Brothers' Bye Bye Love, and songs like Hello Mary Lou and Forget Him filled the air.

Dave Rowlandson and Kesh Patel produced the show for the youngsters aged nine to 12.
