THE Peak Centre, which recently received a grant from East Hampshire district councillor Bill Mouland, has a completely refitted kitchen after water left some of the units badly rotted.

Replacing them also provided an opportunity to increase the work surface areas and move equipment around for easier access. The grant also allowed a contribution towards the purchase of a new fridge, kettle and deep fat fryer.

Work to remove the old equipment and fit new units was undertaken over a bank holiday and, with the assistance of managers and volunteers, there was no interruption to the service and care that the day centre gives to its clients.

Trustees chairman Paul Robinson said: “The Peak Centre relies on grants, donations and fundraising activities for 40 per cent of its annual running costs. In this case a bacon butty in return for the councillors grant was well merited.”

Mr Mouland added: “The Peak Centre is a vital, invaluable and irreplaceable part of life in Bramshott and Liphook, providing a fantastic service to the community.

“East Hampshire district councillors are extremely keen to see the centre thrive and will do all they can to make sure this happens.

“The kitchen improvements were obviously vital, and the bacon butty is a testament to their success.”
