CONTROVERSIAL plans to widen the access road to Old Thorns golf course were thrown into chaos this week when it was discovered that workmen had ripped up twice as much land as was allowed.

Old Thorns workmen removed tons of earth from the sensitive Site of Special Scientific Interest opposite The Deer's Hut pub, at Griggs Green – only to be told to put it back again.
