What do you love about East Hampshire?
The warmth and friendliness of the people who live here and the beauty of the countryside and open spaces.
What do you think the biggest issue facing residents is?
The need to protect our planet – without a place to live none of the petty politics matter.
In a sentence, why do you deserve the job?
Because I really care and I will work hard to improve the lives of my constituents while doing what I can with others to protect our future.
What book or books should everyone read?
When Breath becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.
Where did you last go on holiday?
About seven years ago we drove down to find my grandfather’s birthplace in the Pyrenees in South Western France, camping at public sites along the way. It was heaven!
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was very precocious and just could not wait to be a grown up – now I wish I had just kicked back and enjoyed being a child. I wanted to be a novelist, then a vet.
When was the last time you used public transport?
Saturday when I took the train back from a course in London.
If someone wanted to eat out in East Hampshire, where would you recommend?
The Harrow at Steep.
What do you hope to get for Christmas?
Some time with my family and especially the newest member Alfie, currently nearly five weeks old.
What do you do to switch off from politics?
Read about six novels a week; gardening and pottering about; relaxing with friends and family over a good meal.
