MORE than 100 art lovers packed into Haslemere Museum for the launch of the 124th annual exhibition by town’s Art Society.

Two galleries were given over to the show and special guest was Haslemere Mayor David Round, who presented the annual Allan Thomson Award to Colin Wilson for his oil painting ‘Reflections’.

Runner-up was Clare Bowen’s painting, ‘Emsworth’.

Visitors to the exhibition, which closed on Septrember 15, voted for their favourite work to receive the Darlah Peters Award, and the winner will be announced at the Art Society’s evening meeting on Thursday , September 27.

Members will also enjoy a demonstartion on the theme of ‘Light and Movement in Watercolours ‘by Jake Winkle.

The flourishing society has 140 members, both professional and amateur artists, and its president is award-winning figurative painter Roger Dellar.

The society was originally founded to promote art in Haslemere.
