REPRESENTATIVES of Green Construct gave a presentation on a small housing development it wants to build on land north of Radford Bridge to Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council’s planning committee.
Roger Hayes and Simon Levine told councillors the land off London Road is currently privately owned and lies outside the settlement policy boundary as well as within a conservation area.
They stressed they only wish to develop a small section providing a total of nine sustainable homes. Part of the proposal is to gift a substantial parcel of the land ownership – more than nine acres – to the River Wey Trust, which will bring under its permanent protection two further stretches of countryside along either bank.
This will enable the charity to further protect and restore another area of countryside helping to connect the environmental heritage work the trust has done with Allee’s meadow and the parish with Radford Park.
The proposals also promise to encourage local access to the land for the benefit of the community, offer an opportunity for easy pedestrian access to Allee’s Meadow, prevent any further threat of development north of Radford Bridge by removing the land from private ownership and provide a clear and distinct edge to the settlement boundary along London Road.
Green Construct director Roger Hayes said: “We have chosen this site as it provides a great opportunity to build a small development of exemplar homes and enables us to gift a substantial parcel of land to the River Wey Trust for the benefit of the environment, the community and the countryside that can be enjoyed by all and no longer held in private ownership.
“Following feedback from the parish council, Green Construct will be taking these proposals to EHDC and to the community to test public opinion and hopefully gain support for this imaginative development.”
