SUPPORTERS of kidnapped British journalist John Cantlie voiced relief he is still alive after he appeared n a new video made by so-called Islamic State (IS).
Mr Cantlie lived in Haslemere before he was kidnapped in Syria in November 2012. His journalism skills have been exploited 11 times by IS in an attempt to lend credibility to its propaganda films.
He last appeared in a video filmed in Mosul, northern Iraq, in which he mocked President Obama, in March. In the latest, he highlighted bombing of Mosul University.
Supporters, who launched a petition on the Parliament website “to raise awareness and ensure the safe release of British IS hostage John Cantlie” voiced their relief on Twitter that he was still alive, this week.“Thin but alive,” posted one follower on #Free John Cantlie. “Hope continues.” The Foreign Office said it “analysing the video”.
