SUPPORTERS of Haslemere Hospital are being urged to use new powers granted under the Localism Act to buy it back for the community.

The 'Vision for Haslemere' public meeting at Haslemere museum tomorrow will be used as a launchpad for a concerted effort to regain ownership of the community hospital.

Residents have been invited to have their say about how best to use the new rights they have been granted to develop a neighbourhood plan, to take over services from local authorities and buy assets for the benefit of the community.

Haslemere League of Friends chairman Professor Vincent Marks believes saving the hospital in perpetuity should take centre stage.
