A RESPECTED hospice in Farnham will be lighting up people’s lives next month.
The occasion is the annual Light Up a Life service at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice on November 26, held to remember loved ones who close to us but no longer with us and to celebrate their lives.
The evening is always a special and poignant one, as well as being very popular, and last year was attended by around 700 people, according to a hospice spokesman.
The service, which will be held in the grounds of the hospice building on Waverley Lane, will start at 6.30pm and will feature readings, carols and prayers as reflect on the lives of their loved ones.
During the service, the lights on the hospice’s Christmas tree will be switched on to represent the lives of those special people to whose memory the service is dedicated.
Anyone who would like to remember a loved one who is no longer with us - whether they were cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell or not - is invited to attend the service. If they wish to, they can make a dedication in memory of that special person, and have their name and the name of their loved one added to the evening’s order of service.
Leaflets about Light up a Life and a form for making a dedication are available in Phyllis Tuckwell’s shops and from the hospice reception. Alternatively, visit the charity’s Light up a Life website at pth.org.uk/lual and dedicate a light on its virtual night sky.
The hospice spokesman said attendees should bring a torch and wrap up warm, adding that limited parking will be available at the nearby South Farnham School and The Abbey School.
After the service, mulled wine and mince pies will be served at South Farnham School.
