EAST Hampshire MP Damian Hinds has commented on Britain’s benefit from record-breaking inward investment by foreign companies in the last year.
A total of 2,213 projects were secured across the country, creating or safeguarding around 116,000 jobs as a result - the second highest total on record.
Mr Hinds said: “These figures show the UK is open for business, with almost 1,600 new jobs created every week by foreign direct investments in the last financial year – that’s nearly 390,000 new jobs since 2010.
“The South East has seen 5,507 new jobs created by 253 projects in 2015-16, which is great news for our region and demonstrates the appeal the UK has for many foreign companies.
“The UK ranks highest in Europe for foreign direct investment, and that gives us a position of strength as we look to our trading future with the rest of the world.”
