FORMER Haslemere firefighter Kevin Vousden, better known on Facebook as ‘Idiot on 2 Wheels’ has just a managed to cycle 1,347 miles from New Delhi in North India to Bangalore, South India in just 26 days in aid of local charity Catalyst, which supports people with alcohol, drugs and mental health issues

His large fan-following has enjoyed regular posts on surviving cycling in 45 degrees Centigrade, over-zealous locals, food poisoning, rabid dogs and injury.

His experiences included fixing punctures at 6am surrounded by 30 onlookers and a litter of puppies, and pumping drinking water from a disused well.

A loyal Catalyst supporter, Kevin benefited from the charity’s Big Lottery funded ‘Reach Out Counselling,’ which offers up to 12 weeks of free one-to-one counselling for people who have been affected by alcohol or drugs.

He said: “Catalyst was one of the only organisations that didn’t judge me when I reached rock bottom.

“I had reached out to other more well-known organisations but they just didn’t understand what I was going through.”
