GREEN-fingered youngsters from Alton Infant School’s Gardening Club returned from RHS Wisley having spent a day designing and creating a ‘square-metre garden’ in a schools’ competition.

Based on the theme of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five, the Alton Infant School garden had a strong environmental feel, complete with rainforest, desert, ocean and mountainous regions, all with appropriate planting.

While they had no idea of the result when they returned home, the young gardeners were told next day that they had won gold!

It was a triumph for the team, who were supported on the day by Ann Foulkes, Teresa Stone and Debbie Randall.

In expressing “a big well done to our amazing gardeners”, infant school headteacher Jayne Broach added: “A great job from everyone!”
