PATIENTS at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford will now benefit from the improved delivery of cancer treatment, thanks to a grant awarded by SC Johnson.
A grant enabled the purchase of a CNC Router – a device that will be used to cut made-to-measure boards and devices that hold patients immobilised during radiotherapy treatment.
The machine will enhance the level and speed of treatment for those patients who visit the hospital's radiotherapy unit, making positioning and screening devices to keep patients absolutely still during radiotherapy treatment.
The donation will enable Royal Surrey County Hospital to upgrade its existing radiotherapy devices, including chest and breast immobilisation boards and foot and knee rest devices – some of which have been in operation for more than 15 years – to offer the most up-to-date technology.
