School’s out for consultation as early plans for a new primary in Bordon have been presented to the public.
Hampshire County Council is after feedback as a public consultation on a new primary school close to the “new” town centre is now underway.
Early plans for the 420-place school between the leisure centre, Havannah Way and Prince Philip Park were presented during a drop-in event at The Shed last week.
Bosses hope the school will welcome its first pupils in September 2028 with feedback from the drop-in and online consultation shaping the planning application.
“There’s been a steady stream of interest from people wanting to know more about what’s planned,” said a spokesperson for HCC at The Shed event last week.
“The location is quite central and that will encourage sustainable travel and will give pupils the ability to walk, cycle or scoot to school. We don’t want people driving to the school if we can help it.”
Some £18million has been budgeted for the school, which will likely be run by an academy trust. The school will accommodate pupils aged 4 to 11 and would admit up to 30 places for Year R pupils in its first year.
A spokesperson added: “It is proposed the school will grow over time to a total of 60 pupils per year group, with an overall total of 420 pupils.
“The school will have a Resourced Provision supporting pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan and who require additional specialist support.”
The council has also confirmed they are reviewing the school catchment areas for Bordon Infants and Juniors to take account of development on Prince Philip Park.
The consultation runs until March 2, for more details and to comment on the school look for Prince Philip Park on www.hants.gov.uk
