COWDRAY Golf Club celebrated the opening of the clubhouse bar a five-week extensive refurbishment with a launch party.

Chief executive Jonathan Russell, director of golf Tim Allen, head chef Jon Lander, food and beverage manager Tony Dark and bar manager Chris Strudwick joined golf members and staff enjoyed canapés, prosecco, wine and beer.

Following the work, the clubhouse offers a dedicated dining area, a casual seating area and a designated soft seating area primarily for members.

A new cabinet installed enables all the club’s trophies to be on display together for the first time.

Lady Cowdray oversaw the interior design of the clubhouse, which features new images of the golf course and the bar by local photographer and member Chris Orange.

Mr Allen said: “We are delighted with the improvements at Cowdray Golf.

“We hope that everyone – members, visitors and families – will come and enjoy these smart new surroundings and enjoy a drink or have something to eat.

“We have invested substantially in our 18-hole championship golf course over the last year including new and improved tees, and new machinery.

“By carrying out an extensive refurbishment we aim to raise the standard of the clubhouse to match the golf course.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project, particularly the Cowdray works department, who laboured to ensure everything was completed on time and to such a high standard.”

•On Saturday, May 5, the club’s open day takes place (10am-3pm). More details at www.cowdray.co.uk
