BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council has appointed Gill Snedden as Millennium Centre manager, taking over after Karen Feeney left in May.

Gill moved to Liphook in 2003 with her husband and children.

She said: “I grew up in a village community and Liphook, although it is larger, is quite similar.

“I love working with people, and began volunteering with Farnham Scouts 12 years ago and am now their Scout Leader. I am also currently training for Macmillan’s Mighty Hike of the North Downs.

“I am experienced in management of service and retail establishments, and am looking forward to utilising my experience at the Millennium Centre.”

Supporting Gill in the management of the centre is Melanie Kite, the parish council’s eeputy executive officer.

She started working at the Haskell Centre in April and will also be working one day a week at the Millennium Centre.

Melanie was previously employed as practice manager at the local veterinary practice and has already been working with councillors, staff and the local community.

One of the first events for Gill to organise was the now popular and sold-out film and food night, showing the classic feelgood factor movie Mamma Mia based on the smash hit musical.

Together with the help of Lara Balchin-Murray, Pete Terry and his wife May, they transformed the main hall into a Greek taverna with soft candle lights, serving delicious dishes, such as lasagna, meatballs, salads and dips.

Forthcoming events at the centre include the Village Market on the second Saturday of each month, the movie Bridge of Spies on Friday, August 5, as well as another Film and Food event on November 18, featuring the 1980s classic Dirty Dancing film.
