A VILLAGE football club will be taking good care of its football pitch and giving its members an ever better playing surface, once the summer drought is over, after taking delivery of a brand new mower.
Hambledon Football Club won the new mower in a national competition organised by Allett Mowers – Pitch to Play. It invited amateur teams to compete in the competition by putting in a pitch for the sports pitch most in need of a makeover and the chance to renovate its playing surface and transform the club.
The club were further helped by the Football Foundation small grants scheme to make up the shortfall for the new mower.
The mower is a massive boost for Hambledon FC – an FA Charter Standard Club – that is run solely by volunteers, and especially for Martyn Grove, its groundsman.
Similar to machines seen most recently at stadiums during the World Cup in Russia the mowers are also used by Premiership clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool.
