ALTON FlavourFest made a delicious return on September 1, as foodies flocked to the Public Gardens for the second instalment of the food and drink festival.
The gardens played host to more than 30 artisan food and drink stalls, cookery demonstrations with The Natural Cook Company, a gin garden courtesy of Winchester Distillery, live music and dance on the bandstand and fun children’s activities.
From Mexican hot dogs to stonebaked pizza and brownies to boozy cupcakes, charcuterie, Somerset cider and Hampshire ale – there were treats to suit all tastes, all lovingly created or sought out by local producers.
There was lots to discover and learn too at the live cookery demonstrations, with Alton’s The Natural Cook Company as they shared their best tips, recipes and behind-the-scenes stories.
And hot on the heels of the grown-ups, children could head over to the bouncy castle and inflatable assault course – as well as enjoying face painting and, of course, an ice cream van!
Jenny Atherton, from FUSE Projects who co-ordinated the festival with the help of a team of local volunteers, said: “The festival was a sell out success with thousands of people enjoying the delicious local food, drink and music on offer.
“Our fantastic team of volunteers worked tirelessly on the run-up to the day and we’d like to say a huge thank you to our team, musicians, stallholders and local visitors for supporting Alton FlavourFest.”
