STUCK for something to do this Valentine’s Day – or looking for something a little out of the ordinary to treat your loved one to this February 14?

Whether it’s city, coast, country or kooky you’re after, Surrey and Hampshire has it all – with an eclectic array of romantic destinations and activities to mark that special day.

Here we list five of the best ways to mark Valentine’s Day:

* Looking for an alternative night out on Valentine’s Day? Why not try a special late night pottery painting class at Mambo Jambos next to Squire’s Garden Centre in Badshot Lea – on Thursday, February 14 from 6pm to 9pm.

Everyone’s welcome, so whether you bring the love of your life, a friend or family member, or a group of you, you’re sure to have a fun and relaxing evening.

The studio fee is £2.50 per person plus the cost of the pottery piece you chose to paint (prices start from £4). You can even bring your own drinks and nibbles to enjoy while you paint. Book online at squiresgardencentres.co.uk

* Join Hensting Alpacas in Otterbourne, Hampshire for a Valentines alpaca walk (albeit on February 16 – not the day itself). Get up close to these beautiful animals, hear them hum to each other, feel how soft their fleece is and look into their big brown eyes.

Couples will be treated to a glass of Prosecco and their very own alpaca to walk, as well as a factual talk including how alpacas fall in love. The walk starts at 10am and lasts two hours, costing £48 for two people. See alpacas-hampshire.co.uk for details.

* While February 14 is a day of love, at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire it also marks the 14th anniversary of the hotel’s opening – and this year as a special birthday present to guests and local residents, the high-end hotel will be offering complimentary skating sessions for all.

Sure to impress your loved ones, the Four Seasons’ skating rink is the definition of winter fun, set at the heart of the hotel’s historic Dogmersfield Park estate.

And after hitting the rink, couples can indulge themslves in a seasonal afternoon tea at The Library, overlooking the rolling hills of the park, a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner prepared by executive chef Paolo Belloni inspired by the Hampshire landscape, or a classic cocktail at the Wild Carrot bar.

* Show some love with the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) ‘Love Notes’ this Valentine’s Day. The BHF is urging residents to pen a message of love to their nearest and dearest by buying one of its Love Notes just in time for Valentine’s Day.

From a Shakespearean-style sonnet to a simple emoji, the public can head into one of the BHF’s 550 clothing shops and pick up a love note for just £1 (small) or £2 (large) before writing a heartfelt note to a loved one. The messages will then be displayed in the store window until February 15.

* Escape to the Isle of Wight and find traditional romance, island grandeur and simple pleasures this Valentine’s Day with Wightlink.

The ever romantic and beautiful Isle of Wight has always been a haven for lovers – not least Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

This Valentine’s Day is no different, couples travelling with Wightlink can escape together, reconnect and fall in love away from mainland life.

Wightlink adult foot passengers tickets start from £29 or from just £74 for a return ticket travelling by car (based on return crossings departing on February 14).
