STORMS and torrential rain two days before Christmas, caused misery for many residents in Liphook and its surrounding villages.

Flooding in Church Lane and Tunbridge Lane hampered access for motorists into Bramshott, while fallen trees blocked the old A3, Portsmouth Road, as well as many country lanes going into Milland, Bramshott and Passfield.

Despite the centre of Liphook retaining its electricity supplies throughout the storm, many households lost fences, roof tiles and power supplies for up to 20 hours because of debris bringing down power cables.
